I did some calculations and realized this is my 17th year in a row going to Netherworld! Wow! I love going to Netherworld each year and especially love seeing how each and every year, they outdo themselves. This year is no exception. The two shows at Netherworld this year are absolutely incredible, and I noticed so many changes were made to both haunted houses, providing an almost completely new experience for guests.
This year, Netherworld has “two” haunted attractions, and I say two because the second haunt is actually kind of two haunts in one. Netherworld is massive this year and really feels like three haunted houses.
The first haunted house theme is Monsters Attack, and it features a lot of classic monsters. There were a lot of changes made to this haunted house. I recognized parts of the path, but they have redesigned a lot of this attractions and added new scenes. I loved how there were even more twists and turns added this year to make the attraction unpredictable. The costuming was amazing for all of these classic monsters, and I particularly liked the new werewolf scene they added with the moon effect. This haunted house attraction is better than it has ever been before. I absolutely loved it.
The second haunt this year is Oblivion: Return of the Mangler, and Netherworld brings back the Mangler character this year. The indoor part of this attraction is more intense and graphic than the first attraction, so between the two haunt attractions offered this year, there is really something here for everyone. This attraction is definitely not for people with weak stomachs, as it has a lot of graphic/gruesome details added. This may be the most intense attraction Netherworld has ever created, and they changed a lot in this attraction from last year. There are still sections I recognized from the old attraction, but a lot of it has been rethemed and newly designed. In addition, this attraction kind of features a bonus attraction when you exit the building to go outside. The theme goes from the Mangler/gruesome theming to killer clowns and we go through various carnival scenes outside. This section reminded me of a more old-school haunted house but with some Netherworld-level effects and props added. I did not realize how big the outdoor section would be. It is basically another attraction, and if Netherworld really wanted to, they could almost promote it as three attractions total (one big attraction and two smaller attractions). It also makes me wonder if they have some plans in the works?
Overall, I had a great time at Netherworld this year. They offer an amazing value for the experience with the two haunts each being about 20 minutes long, a total runtime of 43 minutes not including the lines. I will be returning next year as always!
