I will start this review by saying- Netherworld is one of my favorite haunts. I am a huge fan of their shows and have high expectations every year I go, and I try to go every year.
I was super excited to go see their new show this year, because I thought their theming looked really unique and interesting. Their first show, Primordial focuses on the elements of Water, Wind, Earth and Fire, which I thought was really interesting. It is a theme I have never seen done in a haunt before. The second haunt this year is called Cryptid Chaos and features several cryptid creatures.
Although Cryptid Chaos is the add on attraction, I will start with that one first. I feel this haunt was a very well done haunt. It utilizes the similar sci-fi theming of past year but there is an overlay of Cryptid creatures which I thought was really fun. The sets and costumes for this were really well done and there was a fly animatronic that they added this year I really loved!
Their main haunt, Primordial, I loved even more than Cryptid Chaos. In fact, I would say it surpassed my expectations (which my expectations were already high). Primordial is the best show I have ever seen at Netherworld. It is immersive and absolutely spectacular. There is a perfect mix of scenes from past years, with a ton of new sets and scenes added. Because I have been through this haunt tons of times, I recognized quite a few scenes/rooms from past years but even then, they have a really unique overlay to them that make them feel new. I absolutely loved the way they did the theming for this haunt. The new scenes they added fit the theming perfectly, and the scenes they overlayed fit in perfectly.
The attraction features all four elements and each one is incredibly immersive. I absolutely loved the aquatic scenes, for its unique overlay of Whysburg and added creatures. I absolutely loved the wind scenes, for the snow effects and new scenes they added. Earth was amazing, as they re-did the path to fit the theming more, adding multiple twists and turns and new scares. Fire was simply epic, with huge animatronics. Something else I noticed this year through the entire main attraction was new music score in the background. This was just an added layer of immersion that stood out to me.
As I stated early, Primordial is the best haunt I have ever seen at Netherworld. They really outdid themselves this year, making a haunt that is somewhat familiar, but feeling new and unique.
I had an incredible time at Netherworld this year, and I think you should definitely go see their new shows! If you are a first time visitor, you need to go visit because you are missing out on one of the top haunts in the world! If you visit each year, you will appreciate all the amazing changes and theming they have added to their shows this year.
