Dread Hollow is located in Lookout Mountain, TN as a part of Ruby Falls and is not your ordinary haunt. Nestled inside of an old Food Lion, you would never have guessed what horrors lied once you entered. Entering the doors, I honestly thought we had already entered the haunt itself. The queue line alone was very well thought out and well executed by the creative team.
Going through the twist and turns and having creatures jumping out at you throughout the queue, time goes by quickly while waiting for the haunt itself. Once you enter the haunt, you are greeted by numerous scenes as well as immersive character design. If you go on their website before you embark your journey, you can read the lore that they have created in order to create a better understanding of what is occurring. The live actors and actresses always had us on our feet throughout the experience and were interactive with us making this haunt feel like a personal experience. One thing to note about this haunt is that it leans on live actors and scenery rather than animatronics which I see as a positive.
Breakdown:
-Overall experience: 10/10- everyone that works at Dread Hallow is truly dedicated to their haunts and are extremely friendly staff members too!
-Effects: 9/10- Again, the special effects team they have at Dread Hallow have something truly special there in Tennessee. Inside, the haunt atmosphere is spectacular. One issue is the lack of scenery and facade outside of the building. I truly like the logo they created for their haunt but there’s nothing else really to see while waiting on the show, other than some actors. However, I do not blame this on Dread Hallow due to possible limitations to the outside of the building. (There is a CVS pharmacy that is in the same plaza as Dread Hallow so that might be the reasoning)
Acting: 10/10- Not a single actor broke from their character once... they truly embodied their character to create it as their own. There is amazing detail here and you can tell that they were all having a blast at what they do.
Overall score: 10/10
We loved what they have created this year at Dread Hollow and would recommend anyone to go up to check this haunt out!
