This season, I visited Containment's new haunted attraction "The Overlords." According to their website, "the rulers of the underworld have turned to the innocent jack-o-lantern to carry out their bidding" this season and have sent an army of Halloween symbols to invade the world of the living.
I visited the haunt this season, like I do every year, and I can't help but be reminded why it is one of the best haunts in America. The theming is absolutely remarkable. Once again, Containment has come up with original theming/storytelling and put together a spectacular production.
Containment feels like an immersive theater experience, in that, the walkthrough feels like a story. While theming is done well every year, this year they have outdone themselves. The theming of the jack-o-lantern is prominent throughout the show and there is a story being told as you make your way through the show. I have been to tons of haunts over the years, and as far as I am concerned, no one does theming better than Containment. This year is absolutely no exception.
With the theming being changed this year, multiple scenes in the haunt have as well. While fan favorites are still here, the new scenes they have added, as well as the changes they have done to some existing scenes are awesome. All the scenes fit well with "The Overlords" and each scene flows seamlessly from one to the next. That is something I must applaud the team at Containment on doing.
The cast is amazing this year as well. As always, actors often interact with guests to help tell the story/theme each year. They do an excellent job of telling the story of "The Overlords" this season. There has clearly been a lot of thought on creating the theme this year, and this is present both visually and with the interactions with actors.
There has been quite a few changes to the show this year, and it makes for a new and (surprisingly) even BETTER experience than past years. Containment always puts on a great show, outdoing themselves every year and I definitely recommend visiting.
